Cat in Rhinestone Suit by John Carter Cash

I initially picked this book up off the shelf because of the dazzling cover and then realized the author was John Carter Cash of Johnny Case and June Carter Cash. I am a fan of his parents music and was even more intrigued by the book. I thought the illustrations were wonderful. The story is a cliche western, bad snake turned good just in the nick of time. I think children would enjoy this book, especially the illustrations.

The Sister's 8 Series by Lauren Barataz-Logsted

The Sisters 8 books are about a family of octuplets (all girls) born eight minutes apart. The girls are 7 when the story begins and all of the books start the same way. Basically the girls parents have gone missing and the only clue they have is a mysterious note left telling them in order to find their parents they must find their powers and gifts. There are 16 one power and one gift for each of the girls. There are 8 books and each books starts the same recapping the problem (the girls' parents have disappeared and their only hope to get them back is for each girl to find their power and gift) and then focuses on a different sister. It was a very entertaining read and I can see young girls getting into this series. When I looked online there is also an accompanying website about the series and various reviews for the readers.   Sisters 8 Website
